Coach Savannah secures big win at ONE Championships Unbreakable II

Posted on:

On Friday, January 29th, Modern Martial Arts and Fitness coach, Sovannahry Em, improved her professional mixed martial arts record to 4-1 with a 2nd round TKO stoppage win over South Korea’s Choi Jeong Yun at ONE Championship’s “Unbreakable II” in Singapore.

From the opening bell, Coach Savannah took control of the fight by forcing her taller opponent up against the cage wall before using her wrestling to secure a double leg takedown. But, after receiving a few punishing blows on the ground, her opponent managed to return to her feet. A failed headlock throw from Choi saw her once again forced to her back, but again she was able to return to the standing position where she spent the rest of the round defending takedowns against the cage wall.

After briefly moving to the mounted position and landing several heavy punches and elbows, a scramble ensued and Choi again found herself pinned against the cage wall. This time, Coach Savannah used a body lock takedown to bring her opponent back down to the ground before using her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to secure a mounted crucifix position where she finished the fight after a series of unanswered strikes. The stoppage came officially at 2:51 of the second round.

Coach Savannah is an integral part of our team and teaches both Muay Thai and kids BJJ classes at our academy. While her Muay Thai and kids Jiu-Jitsu classes remain on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Coach Savannah is focusing on honing her skillset for when martial arts classes are able to resume in-person training. Look for her to return to the ONE Championship cage in the next several months and stay tuned for updates on when our academy plans to reopen for in-person training.
